Our Favorite Reading Snacks

Truffle Popcorn and Sangria

Just like watching a movie, sometimes reading requires some snacking! To honor that, we decided that it would only be fair to give you something to munch and sip on while you work your way through our Summer Reading List!

Now popcorn just seemed like a necessity on this list, but there's no reason for it to be regular popcorn now is there! Instead, we came up with some of our favorite twists on buttered popcorn toppings to glam them up - and maybe even make them a bit healthier given the books on our list!

The Best Toppings:
Truffle salt + butter
Melted butter with cayenne + lime zest
This Maple Caramel Popcorn (It is my secret recipe, and we're only sharing it with you under the conditioin that it becomes yours as well)
Bacon fat instead of butter (just save some from your next Sunday breakfast)
Rosemary, Garlic, Parm. popcorn - melt some butter with everything but the parm, then toss everything together!

Let's not forget that you'll need something to wash that all down with, though! Technically, we probably shouldn't recommend drinking while reading a book about health, but we think an exception can be made for this incredibly delicious sangria. Besides, you're getting some fruit through it, and some antioxidents. Either way, we recommend giving it a try at least once!

Our Best Red Wine Sangria
1.5 liters red wine
1/2 - 1 cup sugar, depending on your tase
4 ounces brandy
1 large lemon, zested and sliced
1 large orange, zested and sliced
1 large pear, medium dice OR berries of your choice
Sparkling water to tase

In a small sauce pan over medium heat add 1 1/2 cups of he wine with yyour sugar and citrus zest. Slowly dissolve the sugar, and then allow the mixture to cool.

Mix the rest of the ingredients in a large container, stir, and let sit for 18-24 hours in the refridgerator. When you are ready to drink it, stir the mixture again, and add brandy to taste. It should be fairly strong and fairly sweet, almost syrupy. Then cut the mixture with sparkling water!

We know it takes a little lead time, but you can make it in the ,morning to enjoy that evening, or if you're in a rush just do a realy good job at mascerating some of the fruit, and drink up.
